What is Diabetes Mellitus?
Diabetes mellitus (DM), or simply diabetes, is a chronic disease associated with abnormally high glucose (sugar) in the blood. Insulin is produced by the pancreas to control glucose in the normal level. High blood sugar produces the classical symptoms of polyuria (frequent urination), polydipsia (increased thirst) and polyphagia (increased hunger).
